RIO RANCHO — On Aug. 20, Prep Baseball — an independent scouting service for baseball talent — announced that Rio Rancho High School will be the site for the inaugural Prep Baseball New Mexico State Games (NMSG), to be held Nov. 2-3.

The announcement came via prepbaseballreport.com, the website for the event’s governing body.

“The mission of the New Mexico State Games is clear: to gather the best high school baseball talent in one location, providing a platform for players to showcase their abilities and gain exposure,” the announcement said. “Participants will not only have the chance to demonstrate their skills in a showcase format but will also be placed on teams for competitive gameplay. This dual approach ensures that every player gets a comprehensive evaluation, both individually and in a team setting.”

According to a news release about the event, day one of the NMSG will involve using advanced technologies like Visual Edge, an online visual assessment and training program, and Trackman, an interactive app that is a global leader in ball-tracking accuracy.

“These tools will help evaluate the players’ performance and provide data-driven insights into their abilities,” the release said.

Exposure is a major benefit of signing up for the NMSG, according to the news release.

“The [NMSG] also serve as an identifier for several of Prep Baseball’s top national events, including the Future Games, West Coast Games, West Coast ProCase, and the Prep Baseball All-American Game. This event could be a steppingstone for New Mexico's young athletes to gain national attention and take their baseball careers to the next level.”

As of Aug. 29, two Rio Rancho High School players had signed up for the NMSG, according to prepbaseballreport.com: right-handed pitcher Jonah Bogue and second-baseman Javier Molina.

Additionally, according to the site, more than 1,000 college and pro scouts subscribe to Prepbaseballreport.com and their player profiles received more than 9 million views in 2020.

Participants will have full access to their evaluations and measurements.

The NMSG is open to prospects from the class of 2025 through 2029 and registration is now open.
