Santa coming to town for veterans
RIO RANCHO — The city of Rio Rancho is once again asking people to help Santa out this holiday season.
In a recent social media post, the city is inviting residents to become a “Santa” for veterans in the V.A. Hospital. “Santas” are asked to fill a gift bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, comb/brush, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, socks, a blanket, a book, a puzzle book or two and maybe some snacks for a veteran in need. They should then bring the gift bags to the Cabezon Community Center no later than Dec. 13. Gifts will be taken to the V.A. Hospital in Albuquerque Dec. 20 for distribution Dec. 24.
To become a Santa for a Veteran at the hospital people just need to bring that gift bag to Cabezon Community Center between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. no later than Dec. 13. The gifts will be taken to Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque on Dec. 20, so that they may receive their gifts on Dec. 24.
