RRPD holding contest for police car design
RIO RANCHO — The Rio Rancho Police Department is holding a police car design contest, an initiative that invites all students in Rio Rancho to showcase their artistic talents and community pride by designing the next community relations police car.
“This unique opportunity allows students to create a design that reflects the rich and diverse culture of the state of New Mexico and the city of Rio Rancho,” an announcement about the contest states. “At RRPD, we recognize the incredible creativity of our youth and are eager to display their talents in a way that unites our community.”
The winning design will be featured on the newly designed community relations police vehicle.
The requirements for participation are that the students must be from Rio Rancho schools, including those in public, private, charter or homeschool settings. Designs must include the phrase, “Rio Rancho Police Serving Since 1981.” The American flag is to be incorporated into the design, and submissions must also feature three stars, representing the department’s three fallen officers — or their call signs of 103, 107 and 163.
Finalists will be selected by RRPD staff, and the winning design will be chosen by members of city leadership.
The deadline for submissions is March 31, and people should email officer Daisy Gomez at dagomez@rrnm.gov with their finished design or drop it off at the Rio Rancho Police Department.
