Rio Rancho's Madi Martinez makes All-Metro basketball team
Rams freshman phenom Madilynn Martinez lines up for a free throw in Friday night’s upset victory over the Tigers.
RIO RANCHO — What a season it was for the Rio Rancho High School girls basketball squad. They finished 21-11, and ended the season as a top-10 team.
The accolades have not stopped coming as freshman guard Madilynn "Madi" Martinez was recently named as a second team All-Metro selection.
The young star averaged 16 points per game, which was the most for any Rams player this season. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 3.2 steals per game.
Madi played alongside two of her sisters, Larissa and Lilly Martinez. Larrisa led the team in steals (3.8 spg), and was the team's best 3-point shooter (30%) while Lilly led the team in rebounds (4.1 rpg) and assists (3.9 apg).
With all Martinez sisters returning next season, it's safe to say that the Rams will be one of the favorites to snag a blue trophy.
