Premiere Cinemas, RRPD host 'Movie with a Cop'
RIO RANCHO — Rio Rancho Police Department got into the holiday spirit last week with Movie With a Cop at Premiere Cinemas Dec. 11.
The movie for the night was the 2018 Illumination film “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch.”
“I am watching a movie with my family, the Grinch is here and we’re going to watch ‘The Grinch,’” Ivan Duran said.
At 4:30 p.m., Santa Claus arrived, and so did the Grinch, who brought RRPD therapy dog Rio.
Rio makes appearances at a ton of schools to help students, including those with special needs.
“Getting the community involved, it gives us time to be on a positive note with them,” RRPD Community Relations Officer Daisy Gomez said.
Rio Rancho Fire and Rescue also made an appearance and brought an inflatable smokehouse.
“The best part about events like these (is they) allow us to bring our whole community together. Of course, we have a community that’s very supportive of public safety in general, which is why we always include [RRFD] and they include us in theirs,” Rio Rancho Police Capt. Jacquelynn Reedy said. “The RRFD brought the smokehouse, so it’s also an educational event where the kids can learn what to do if there is smoke in their house.”
