RIO RANCHO — THE BLOCK in Enchanted Hills has a new skating rink that will certainly bring on some holiday cheer.

“The Central Park Skating Rink” had its “BLOCK” debut Dec.1 and will remain open until Jan.31. The rink will open daily at noon, though holiday hours may vary.

“One of the hallmarks that really sets us apart from other container parks is our community event schedule. We have something going on here almost every night of the week, and we did not want that to change with colder weather. We still wanted to give the residents of Rio Rancho a really fun experience to have,” Tiffany Gravelle, THE BLOCK’s COO, said. “We decided that an ice rink would be a great activity for people of all ages.”

People looking to skate will pay $5 for 30 minutes of skate time, and skates are provided by THE BLOCK.

“There is a special blade on the ice skates that’s used on the synthetic ice, so you can leave your personal skates at home,” Gravelle said.

Parents must supervise any children skating, and a waiver is required for all skaters. While the waiver is an online form, paper copies are available for those who prefer not to use a QR code or to go online.

“We are almost three months old, and we hope that people continue to find new and delightful experiences every time they come back to THE BLOCK, whether it’s an ice rink or movie or an event or we got a ton of new retail shops opening up now and restaurants ... We just hope that this place continues to be a central community meeting place,” Gravelle said.
