RIO RANCHO — A fundraising event is coming to King Meadows Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 3. to help a Cleveland High School student who was injured in an accident. Admission to the event is free.

Sascha Herburger, 15, was involved in an accident while riding a dirt bike in June 2024; Herburger was seriously injured and has had multiple surgeries with the possibility of more surgeries.

“I would like to take this opportunity to raise awareness to look twice for motorcycles and off-road vehicles in our fast-growing community. We all need to come together as a community and work together in this large-riding community in the Rio Rancho area for the future of riding safety for all so we can prevent more unfortunate events like what happened to me,” Herburger said in his GoFundMe post. “I was traveling straight on a paved road when another party was leaving a park from a stop sign turning on to the road I was traveling on.”

During the fundraising event, there will be food trucks, table vendors and a car show. All vendors will donate proceeds to the Herburger family.

Food trucks scheduled to participate include Sourpuss Lemonade, Los Alebrijes, Nico’s Street Food, Shaka Cone and Phuckers Lemonade.

“Every donation makes a real difference in helping him with medical expenses and spreading awareness for motorcycle safety in our community,” event organizer and volunteer Selina Wade said.

If any vendors are interested in participating, reach out to Wade at 505-331-5537 or SelinaWade@gmail.com

For any person wanting to participate in the car show, reach out to Nico Savage at 505-900-4636. There is a $15 registration fee per car.
