'Electric Blue Ink': Storm athletes sign letters of intent, ready for next level
Cleveland’s ‘25 student-athletes ready to sign their letters of intent in the Thunderdome. Cleveland High School, Nov. 18, 2025.
RIO RANCHO — The Cleveland High School “Thunderdome” filled up to watch and celebrate the Storm’s college-bound student-athletes Tuesday.
The bleachers were packed in, splattered with different-colored merchandise of the Storm signees’ future institutions. Each of them also got to decorate an individual table to celebrate the signing with family and friends.
“These athletes have worked hard for the last four years. In the classroom, on the volleyball and basketball courts, the track, and the baseball field,” Cleveland Athletic Director Matt Martinez addressed the crowd to open the morning. “I am honored to present the following athletes who are signing to move up to the next level. Congratulations to all the athletes, their parents, coaches, family members, teammates, teachers, staff and friends who are here today.”
Coaches from the players’ Storm programs also had a chance to take the microphone for some words.
“It’s just so exciting to be able to continue to watch our athletes on the biggest stage,” Cleveland volleyball Head Coach Charity Gomez said. “We’re just super excited to have someone set a goal and then reach it, and then represent not only Cleveland, but the state of New Mexico at the next level.”
Words of wisdom and praise now in the books, it was time to sign.
Student athletes involved:
Azlynn Tittman, volleyball, Boise State
Aaliyah Simpson, volleyball, Colorado Christian
Malia Mose, basketball, Western University
Morgan James, track, Boise State
Xavier Vasquez, baseball, Eastern Arizona Jr
Anthony Del Angel, baseball, Oklahoma University
After the pen hit the paper, the athletes made their way to their respective corners of the gym to celebrate the moment with all of their supporters.
It was a great morning in the Thunderdome, but with the winter and spring seasons still ahead, the college signings are just getting started.
