RIO RANCHO — U.S. Navy veteran Barbara Brown had quite a day Nov. 14 thanks to Dreamstyle Remodeling’s “Operation Home Renovation.”
“This wonderful company — Dreamstyle Remodeling — I guess every year, they give away a free shower to a veteran. My friend, Annie Chavez, nominated me, and I guess I won,” Brown said. “I am getting a free shower. I am so excited.”
Brown served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years and said that the company let her pick out all the materials and design for her new shower.
Operation Home Renovation is an initiative by Dreamstyle Remodeling where a veteran is selected and provided with a new shower system. It is the company’s way of saying, “Thank you for your service.”
“Nominations start in the middle of the year and are selected by the end of September, and by November, we are installing a new shower for the veteran,” Diana Ramirez, director of community relations, said.
The president of Dreamstyle Remodeling — and its sister company, Reborn Cabinets — Vince Nardo is a U.S. Navy veteran who made it a priority for his team to give back to the veteran community.
On the day of renovation, lunch was provided for Brown, and tons of pizza crust and apple slices were given to her pitbull, Groot.
In attendance for Brown’s special day was Miss New Mexico 2024 Emile-Marie Enriquez.
“We started out in 1989, so we have been a business for a long time, and this is going to be a regular event that we do every November,” Noah Feeney, general manager for the bath department, said.
