Cleveland DECA earns gold at SCDC; 8 State Champions
Cleveland DECA members get ready for the first night March 3.
RIO RANCHO — Several dozen Cleveland High School DECA members competed at the New Mexico DECA State Career Development Conference March 3-4.
“We are extremely proud of the 73 students who competed and represented Cleveland High School in varying events, and we loved seeing their hard work pay off,” Cleveland DECA Advisor Erin Carrica said.
Cleveland had 46 state finalists in 34 events, 29 state placers in 19 different events, 33 students qualified for the national conference, eight state champions, and Isabel Mucher became another Storm student to be named a New Mexico state executive officer; she is the new vice president of career development.
As a whole, Cleveland DECA was also awarded the prestigious “Gold Level of Distinction.”
“The level of distinction exemplifies our chapter’s overall success in community awareness, organizational standards, fiscal standards, etc.” Carrica said.
