Cabezon offering cooking sessions for kids

Kids will get a chance to learn how to make lunch items for three weekends from 10 a.m. to noon at Cabezon Community Center with the help of Parks and Recreation staff.

"Kids ages 9 -16 will learn to prepare fun and creative lunches and snacks, while also learning about nutrition and healthy eating," it reads online.

People are required to register online. There is a registration fee per session. Staff also request they be notified of any food allergies.

The schedule is as follows:

• Session 1, Sept. 28: Homemade pizza pockets. Deadline to register is Sept. 20.

• Session 2, Oct. 5: Homemade sloppy Joes. Deadline to register is Sept. 27.

• Session 3, Oct. 12: Teriyaki SPAM rice bowl. Deadline to register is Oct 4.
