Another round of boxing bouts come to Rio Rancho

RIO RANCHO — E3VB was a packed house May 24 as the “Earn Your Keep” boxing bouts took place and marked the fourth boxing event in Rio Rancho in the past year.

The boxing event was organized by J.A.B. Clothing, Code of a Champion Boxing, and Earn Your Keep Boxing — the same organizers from the previous three events.

In total, there were 34 boxing bouts that kept the bell ringing all day.

The day kicked off with a matchup between Angel Rivera of MMA Hit Squad and Eleazar Enriquez of Absolute Boxing Academy. Enriquez looked loose, fluid and technically sound, leaving the ring with a win.

In the seventh bout, Rosales Boxing Eden Valtierra duked it out with TNT Boxing’s Ryder Sutfin; both boxers were 9 years old.

During the matchup, Valtierra was light on his feet and was quick to get punches out and set the tone. In the end, Valtierra took the cake.

“I am happy to have won, and I hope to fight again,” Valtierra said.

Another great matchup came in Bout 12, when Hairo Chavez from Able Strength defeated Benny Ramos by displaying some lethal power shots as well as having quick feet, showing some defensive skills by keeping his elbows tight.

“It feels good, and I have a good coach,” Chavez said.

Chavez was one of four youth fighters from Able Strength to compete on the day.

Also in attendance for the boxing bouts was Pro Boxer Katherine Lindenmuth, who recently traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, for the WIBA World Minimumweight Championship. On May 28, Lindenmuth won her overseas matchup against Pornpimon Pongpaew and improved to a 6-4 record.

“I love seeing events like this because it’s showing the little ones, the younger ones, that if you put in that work, you’ll get a platform to showcase your skills,” Lindenmuth said.

The final bout of the night featured big-time boxers Kaleb Medina from Moréu Boxing and Luis Saucedo.

Medina had some nice jabs and landed a few body shots that put him in the driver’s seat. Saucedo responded with some nice combinations, including a “jab-slip-cross-left body shot.”

However, in the end, Medina reigned supreme and locked another win for his resume.

The next round of boxing bouts coming to Rio Rancho will be on June 28-29 at E3VB. The upcoming boxing event is being dubbed “Winner Takes All: Gladiator Challenge.” To secure a spot on the card, contact Steven Padilla at 505-795-9670
