LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Trump an epicenter of destruction

The natural disaster of an earthquake starts at an epicenter, and from that point, the quake destroys property and lives.

Our country has an epicenter of destruction that can be pin-pointed to the Oval Office on Pennsylvania Avenue. The destruction of our democracy is happening with our eyes wide open and nothing so far seems to stop it.

Out of this epicenter of destruction spews nothing but hate, racism and lies. It’s been going on for so long the American people are going weary and becoming the world's most unhappiest and sad people. The president of this country displays no love for the country, the people, the Constitution it is based on and only cares for its own glorification. Even on July Fourth, glorious leader proclaimed he hated Democrats, which only legitimizes the hate and racism of his sycophants who play up to him.

Americans who care about our country are sad because medical research has been cut, food programs for the needy have been cut, environmental protections have been cut, disaster assistance has been cut. Justice is a joke now; innocent people are rounded up simply based on the color of their skin, and who knows what happens after that.

Trump and his MAGA cult of Christian Nationalists believe their unhappiness can be cured by enforcing their values of hate and racism on the rest of us by persecuting the LGBT community, telling couples who they can and cannot marry, what books to read, what to say or write. What would really make them happy is minding their own business and being thankful they live in a country that so far supports freedom of choice.
