LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Townsend misses important points on BBB
Senator Townsend's letter celebrating the "Big Beautiful Bill" and calling Democrats unhinged or exaggerating for complaing about fails to mention a very important point. Critics such as Governor Lujan-Grisham are not complaining about the items Sen. Townsend lists in his letter, (such as no tax on tips).
The criticism ("People could die") concerns a provision in the bill that cuts $793 billion from Medicaid, the medical program for the poor and disabled. People are now faced with losing funds for cancer treatments, or 24/7 care for the most severely disabled and helpless people. There could indeed be deaths.
