LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Constitutional amendment needed

Published Modified

From Patricia K Martin, having prayed to God so hard for a way out, propose an amendment urgently needed:

"In extraordinary presidential races, in such contests between a citizen and a noncitizen convict, should the noncitizen become president and a threat to national security subsequently develop in his Cabinet or in his presidency, the custodial state, under the 13th Amendment, shall declare a national emergency, immediately remove the noncitizen president and his Cabinet and install the citizen, using the powers reserved to the state and to the people of that state by the 10th Amendment."

Article 5 potentially provides a way for the states to bypass Congress, although it has never been used. Article V says that "on Application of two-thirds of the legislatures of the several states (Congress) shall call a convention for proposing amendments."

"The convention can propose amendments whether Congress approves them or not. Those proposed amendments would then be sent to the states for ratification as with an amendment proposed by Congress, three-fourths of the states would have to ratify the amendment for it to become part of the Constitution."

State sovereignty triumphant!

Isn't it worth a try? What do we have to lose?
