Citibank needs to quit enabling fossil fuel industry

Wow, we missed the latest artic vortex. For my two daughters and their families in Montana, it’s been below minus 30 degrees this past week. Last year it was minus 41 degrees. In the ‘70s and ‘80s, yes it got down to minus 20 degrees below, once in a while. During the ‘90s, and until 2017, when I moved down here, never below 0 degrees. This is climate change. Forest fires in the summers, and now minus 30 degrees below during the winter. Not fun skiing.

This is what burning fossil fuels is now doing to our lives. I’m bring this up because, as a Costco club member for over 30 years, I’m concerned with Costco’s use of Citibank as their credit card institution. It used to be American Express. Citibank is the second-largest fund loan institution for the fossil fuel industry. Either Costco needs to switch to another financial institution, or better, Citibank needs to quit enabling the fossil fuel industry, and its continued harm and pollution to our atmosphere.

While Costco does a great job in many respects, Citibank does not. Thirty below, and the constant threat of forest fires has dramatically impacted my children’s lives, not to mention the huge increase in insurance premiums. Please Costco, switch off Citibank.
