Youth and children’s choruses accepting new members
Rio Rancho Youth Chorus and Children’s Chorus of Rio Rancho are accepting new members for the upcoming season, which kicks off Saturday, Feb. 3. Rehearsal for the kids and informational meetings for the guardians/parents will be held. They will accept new members until Feb. 24. Registration starts January 5.
“If you can’t make it February 3, just stop by any rehearsal Saturday in February,” it says in a release.
Children’s Chorus (for 2nd-5th grades) will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. Youth Chorus (for 6th-12th grades) will be 2-3:30 p.m. at their usual rehearsal space, the Star Heights Recreation Center.
Both choruses are looking for male and female singers.
“We accept singers of all experience levels, abilities, genders, identities, backgrounds, cultures, and orientations. No auditions. Come to learn about music, meet new friends, and have fun,” it reads.
Rio Rancho Youth Chorus and Children’s Chorus of Rio Rancho are community chorale ensembles for those living in the Rio Rancho area.
“Music is for everyone. The choruses are a safe, welcoming place to experience music and participate without judgement or the stress of solo performance,” Creative Crossroads President Neal Shotwell said.
Each season ends with two concerts and the choruses regularly perform at other events in Rio Rancho and around N.M.
There is an enrollment fee per season, but the choruses offer a few other options for people. There is an early bird discount if people register by Jan. 26. The choruses rehearse every Saturday from Feb. 3-May 11. End of season concerts will be May 18 and 19, and the public is invited.
