RIO RANCHO — Rio Rancho Governing Body members Paul Wymer and Nicole List are scheduled to meet with constituents Saturday in the second installment of a city-sponsored series designed to create synergy between elected representatives and community events.

Wymer, who represents District 4, and List, who represents District 6, will be available for their meet 'n' greet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rio Rancho Sports Complex, 3501 High Resort Blvd. SE, according to the city's website. The first meet 'n' greet this year was held April 26 with District 2 Councilor Jeremy Lenentine.

Saturday will mark the first such event since the failed vote on an ordinance that would have extended the six councilors' terms. It would have eliminated the March 2026 election and all municipal elections held in even-numbered years. While List voted against the ordinance, Wymer voted for it — although neither councilor was up for re-election next year. Wymer and List said they were not sure if constituents would ask about the measure or spring elections in the upcoming meet 'n' greet.

Their appearance at the sports complex will coincide with sporting events and include a variety of giveaways. Wymer said the location will be reminiscent of his days as a Little League baseball coach for his son.

"It will be like going back 'old school,' if you will," Wymer said.

List acknowledged the city's efforts to make councilor meet 'n' greets more accessible to the public by placing them alongside community events.

"The hope is that there are already a lot of people there, so they will take time on their way in or out to stop by and say, 'Hi!'" List said. "As far as what the difference is, you'll have to ask me next week."

Wymer said he looks forward to the event — last year, his voice went hoarse from talking so long.

"I really enjoy these events," he said, noting it will be just his second opportunity. "In addition to being able to put a face to a voice on the folks I represent, it gives them an opportunity to chat with me and give me thoughts on what's working and what's not working."

List said she is "super excited" for the meet 'n' greet. Last year, she met people who came to introduce themselves to her or ask questions of her or a city department representative.

Both councilors acknowledged their pairing at the meet 'n' greet makes sense, given their districts are so close together. The sporting complex is located in Wymer's district, but List's district rides right up to the northern edge of the venue.
