RIO RANCHO – The Rio Rancho Public high school wrestling teams went their separate ways this past weekend. One went east and one went west. But both teams did the City of Vision proud.

The Cleveland Storm headed to the Kansas City Stampede in Kansas City, Missouri.

The boys finished 22nd out of 76.

The leader for the Storm boys was Roman Luttrell, who scored 28 points for his squad and finished in second place in the 120-pound class.

Wade Wallace (150 pound) and Riley Haussler (285) were also stars for the Storm boys’ squad with 10 and 9 points, respectively.

The team finished with a total of 90 points. (For reference, the winner, Creighton Preparatory School finished with 189.)

The girls left the Midwest with a seventh-place finish (out of 58), the highest of any Rio Rancho-based team this past weekend.

Eloise Woolsey was the Storm’s breakout star. She took first place in the 145-pound weight class and scored her team a massive 34 points.

Miranda Stewart was also a huge asset for the Storm girls. She scored 25 of her team’s 137 points and finished third in the 115-pound weight class.

The Rio Rancho Rams went the other way. They headed to Reno, Nevada for the Reno Tournament of Champions.

The boys finished in 35th out of 86, scoring 59 points.

The Rams girls finished in 37th out of 47, scoring 15 points.

  • Individual results for the Reno Tournament of Champions had not been posted as of print time.
