Victoria Romo, 36, of Albuquerque, was summoned July 19 for trafficking fentanyl and tampering with evidence in Bernalillo.

Officers were patrolling Highway 313 in Bernalillo when they saw a vehicle with a faulty registration lamp. The driver continued on despite police's attempts to pull the vehicle over. The plate returned to Romo, who police found out had a nationwide felony warrant for her arrest.

Romo then attempted to drive onto Sandia Pueblo land. When she was blocked in by a gate and police, the man in a passenger seat tried to flee toward pueblo land. Officers called out for them to stop detained him when he fell. No record returned for the passenger, who gave a false name and booked as John Doe.

Romo had fallen down near the gate, where she was detained. Police found 84 blue fentanyl pills in the same spot she fell in the dirt and weeds near Romo in what appeared to be an attempt to hide them. Romo denied any knowledge of the pills.

If Romo is convicted, she could face 9-18 years in prison.
