Wild Hearts Gallery: The Emergent Edge

The next collection to make an appearance at the Wild Hearts Gallery in Placitas is called “The Emergent Edge” by Riha Rothberg.

“The Emergent Edge is an exploration of the edges; of shapes, moments, shorelines, spirits. This new body of work is based on daily ‘meditations’ in acrylic or tea and ink. The pigment is applied first, spontaneously, then the edges emerge as decisions are made with the ink … order out of chaos. Not imposed, but discovered,” according to a press release on the exhibit.

“This process became a bit of an obsession. I was having a good time,” Rothberg said.

Working in series, and shifting between large and small scale work, Rothberg’s abstract two- and three-dimensional work explores elements from nature, dreams and memories. She is a 38-year resident of Placitas and is the founder of the Placitas Studio Tour.

The collection will continue through Oct. 29.
