Wife arrested for shooting at husband caught cheating on her

A Rio Rancho woman faces prison time after shooting at her husband after a fight over his infidelity.

Faith Medeiros, 61, of Rio Rancho, was arrested Jan. 21 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a household member and negligent use of a deadly weapon in the 500 block of Montego Drive.

Officers responding to a report of a shooting talked to the couple involved. The husband said he and his wife had been arguing because she caught him cheating on her, and he went to sleep. He said he woke up to her pointing the gun at him, and she fired a shot inside the house. The bullet didn’t hit anyone.

Medeiros She said her husband strangled her with a phone cord and shot at her.

Officers note in the report that there was no evidence to support this but that there was evidence to support the shot fired at the husband. Officers also noted that she smelled like alcohol and appeared to be under the influence.

Medeiros, if convicted, will face a year and a half in prison.
