Weenie dogs will race to benefit Sandoval County Animal Shelter

Ladies and gentlemen, start your weenies.

Bernalillo Feed and Chevron is holding weenie dog races this weekend to help the Sandoval County Animal Shelter.

The free event is Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at Bernalillo Feed and Chevron (656 S. Camino del Pueblo, Bernalillo, 87004).

The Dachshund race starts at 2 p.m.

All wiener dogs are welcome to race, they just need to show up by 1:45 p.m. to register.

The Sandoval County Animal Shelter will be on site with dogs that are available for adoption. 50-cent Hot dogs will be available with Bernalillo Feed and Chevron matching all hotdog sales and donating those proceeds to support the shelter. Donations for the shelter will also be accepted.

There will also be door prizes, coupons, giveaways and a balloon jump.

Purina nutrition specialist Joram Robbs is the guest speaker at the event and will give tips and information on how to keep your dogs healthy.
