Warrant issued for man who threw girlfriend down stairs
Austin Munson-Weber, 28, of Rio Rancho, has a warrant out for his arrest for deprivation of property, battery against a household member, aggravated assault against a household member and two counts of aggravated battery against a household member at a home in the North Hills neighborhood.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, police performed welfare check July 13 after a report of a woman crying in the backyard of the caller. The report states that the woman was scared and that she told police that her boyfriend had thrown her down the stairs at their house and said something like, "Don't let him get me."
While police were assisting the woman, she hid from a truck that drove down the street. She said it was her boyfriend's truck and that she didn't want him to see here.
The victim said the couple was at their home, drinking and listening to music in separate rooms when Munson-Weber came downstairs and grabbed her off the stool, causing her to fall to the floor. He then threw the stool at her twice.
She said that he took her phone, saying she wouldn't get it back and told her to leave. When she went upstairs to get her things, Munson-Weber pushed her down the first section of stairs. She said he then grabbed her by the hair and threw her like a "lragdoll" down the second section of the stairs.
She said the fall knocked the wind out of her and that she pretended to get physically sick to get away from Munson-Weber and left the house to find help.
Police attempted to contact Munson-Weber at the couple's home but no one answered the door or commands. Officers noted the truck parked outside matched the truck from earlier and that it was still warm from being driven.
Munson-Weber could face eight years in jail if he is arrested and convicted.
