Published Modified

COCHITI LAKE — The U.S. Army Corps of of Engineers is citing unsafe ice conditions for the temporary closure of Cochiti Lake.

The closure includes the boat ramp, fishing access and day use facilities on the Cochiti side of the lake, according to Monday’s announcement. The campgrounds on the Cochiti side of the lake have been closed for the season since Dec. 1. The Tetilla Peak Recreation area closed for the season Oct. 15 and is slated to reopen April 15.

The gate to the road leading to the lake on the Cochiti side has been closed and notification has been posted on the fee machine at the kiosk where visitors pay the day use fee.

The closure will remain in effect until further notice. Visit spa.usace.army.mil/Media/News-Releases/ for updates on when the lake has reopened.
