Three injured in I-25 wrong-way crash; warrant issued for errant driver
SANDOVAL COUNTY — A woman is wanted for causing injury to two people and herself on mile marker 263 of Interstate 25 near Santo Domingo Pueblo May 29.
A New Mexico State Police criminal complaint states Rachel Dillavou, 29, of Albuquerque, was in the hospital due to the crash and couldn’t be arrested for the time being. She is charged with DUI and two counts of great bodily harm by vehicle.
Sandoval Regional communications center received 15-20 calls involving a wrong-way driver and a crash near milepost 262.
Officers suspected Dillavou of being under the influence of narcotics due to glossy eyes, speech issues, cold and shivering and responses to simple questions. She also allegedly told officers she was God’s wife and wouldn’t respond further. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
While enroute to the hospital with Dillavou, officers found an orange pill bottle with D-amphetamine but were unable to get a blood test due to her inability to give consent.
The complaint states that she driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-25 and collided head-on with another vehicle that had two occupants, who sustained life-threatening injuries.
Officers requested a search warrant for Dillavou’s blood May 30.
She will face more than six years in prison if convicted.
