Structure fire extinguished near 16th and NM-528

A structure fire on the corner of 34th Circle and 16th Avenue caused alarm in the surrounding neighborhoods on Sunday evening.

Rio Rancho Fire Rescue Chief James DeFillippo said that the department responded to a call about a confirmed structure fire at a home at about 8:15 p.m. The department contained the fire to the garage.

There were no injuries, but the fire caused significant damage to the home, according to DeFillippo.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
