Santa Fe National Forest fire managers were notified of a new wildfire start Thursday, the Alamo Springs Wildfire, located in the Jemez Ranger District, west of State Highway 4 and north of Rincon Fishing Site on Forest Service land.

The wildfire is less than an acre. Though the cause of the fire is undetermined, lightning was detected in the area Wednesday night. Smoke may be visible from State Highway 4, and the management strategy is full suppression.

The wildfire has low spread potential, creeping and smoldering in oak brush and ponderosa pine. Two fire units are on scene, including an engine.

Currently, the Alamo Springs Wildfire poses no threat to people or property.
