Sandoval County landfill to offer another free half-day this month

Sandoval County has partnered with the city of Rio Rancho and the town of Bernalillo to offer four free half-days at the Sandoval County landfill this year.

The last of the four free days will be 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 18.

Sandoval County residents are encouraged to take advantage of the Free Half-Day Dump Day at its landfill located at 2708 Iris NE. Residents can make multiple trips to the landfill free of charge during this time frame. Per-trip limitations are four tires, two televisions and 10 gallons of household hazardous waste.

According to Chris Perea, landfill manager for Sandoval County, the landfill accepts:

  • cardboard (flattened, no packaging)
  • plastics (1 through 7)
  • scrap metal
  • mixed paper
  • electronics (computers, CPUs, PCs, laptops, keyboards, mouse)
  • televisions and CRT (older computer screens)
  • Tires (four per visit, passenger tires only)
  • Appliances (including Freon-containing appliances)
  • Hazardous household waste
