Rust Medical Center outpatient arrested for flourishing screwdriver at security guards
Armondo Nodestine, 35, of Newcomb, was arrested for three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon upon a health care worker at Rust Medical Center Dec. 5.
Officers responded to the hospital after security reported a man armed witha screwdriver who was being aggressive in the lobby. When they arrived, Nodestine listened to the officers’ commands, dropped the screwdriver and was taken into custody.
The security guards told police Nodestine had been discharged but security allowed him to stay in the lobby to stay warm. They said they even offered to give him a ride to a shelter on the West Side. He then became disorderly with the guards and pulled the screwdriver out of his pocket. When security tried to calm him down, he threatened to stab the guards and said, “One of you is going to get stabbed.” The incident was captured on security footage.
Nodestine, if convicted, will go to jail for 4 1/2 years.
