Rio Rancho Public Schools is partnering with the University of New Mexico College of Education and Human Sciences and the District Partner Teacher Residency program to offer two upcoming information sessions about how teacher residents can get paid.

Teacher residencies are preparation programs for graduates or undergraduates who want to become teachers and are in their final year of school. During residency, participants will experience a rigorous year-long paid apprenticeship with an experienced co-teacher. At the end of the apprenticeship year, teachers are expected to commit to working with RRPS for a minimum of three years.

Rio Rancho Public Schools is accepting teacher resident applications for the following areas:

  • Elementary education (K-8)
  • Secondary English/language arts (7-12)
  • Secondary science (7-12)
  • Secondary global languages: Spanish (7-12)
  • Special education (K-12)

The information sessions will take place on Thursday, Jan. 18, and Thursday, Feb. 22.

Both sessions will be held at the RRPS District Office from 5:30-7 p.m. Those interested in attending via Zoom can do so by entering this meeting ID: 505 506 6226.
