RRPS makes indoor masks optional

Rio Rancho Public Schools has made indoor masks voluntary for all staff and students, regardless of vaccination status, after the state lifted its mask orders, according to a district announcement.

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham this afternoon announced an immediate end to New Mexico’s indoor mask mandate, according to the announcement. In addition, New Mexico Public Education Department notified RRPS that the decision to institute mask mandates in public schools now rests with local school leaders.The RRPS mask-voluntary status is effective immediately.“Students and staff are still welcome to wear a face mask if they feel it is the best option for them while on an RRPS campus,” the announcement said. “With regards to other COVID-safety measures currently in place, we will update you on those as soon as additional details become available.”
