The Rio Rancho Police Department is being impersonated once again as scammers are calling people as police officers.
This time, however, the scammers are impersonating Chief Stewart Steele.
“RRPD is aware scammers are calling citizens pretending to be RRPD officers, to include Chief Steele, and requesting money,” states a post.
The chief, RRPD or any officers of RRPD will never request money for any reason, according to the post.
“If you receive a similar call, please hang up and file an online police report,” it reads.
People can also t 505-891-7226 to have an officer respond to take a report.
