The Rio Rancho Police Department responded to a false alarm at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center early Tuesday morning (Feb. 13).

Police maintained a presence at the hospital and other Presbyterian facilities to “ensure there is no active threat.” The hospital was placed on lockdown after a call came in reporting an active threat. Around 7:30 a.m., the lockdown was lifted after it was determined the call was a hoax.

“The lockdown is lifted,” RRPD posted on social media. “Thank you for your patience, and thanks to members of law enforcement who were on scene immediately and evaluating the situation.”

The Albuquerque Police Department also responded to a false alarm at Presbyterian Downtown Hospital Tuesday morning.

APD received reports of an active shooter at the hospital, but learned the alarm was accidentally sent out by hospital security. As of 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police said there were no reports of any injuries or suspects.
