DWIs are common during the holidays, and Rio Rancho Police will not be slacking off in arresting those who drink and drive.

“The Rio Rancho Police Department encourages everyone to celebrate the holiday season responsibly. As is always a focus of our department, we will be looking to arrest intoxicated drivers placing our community in danger,” RRPD Captain Jacqueline Reedy said.

She adds that if a driver is suspected of drinking, people should call 911 right away.

“If you see a driver you suspect is drunk, please dial 911 immediately. Together, we can #endwi,” Reedy said.

To avoid driving while drunk, there is a discount on Uber rides, according to the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“Enjoy your holiday and take a ride on us,” a brochure reads.

Uber riders will be credited $10 off on two rides from noon on Dec. 22 to 2 a.m. Dec. 26. To get this perk, users need to open the Uber app and go to the VOUCHERS section. Then they can add the code ABQMERRY23 to redeem the rides.

The number of rides available to the community is 2,000, so the code is first-come, first-served. The code only works for Uber rides, not Uber Eats.

“We would like to wish everyone a safe and joyous holiday season!,” Reedy said.
