ALBUQUERQUE — A Rio Rancho woman is facing federal drug trafficking charges after officers found hundreds of thousands of pills and other drugs during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 40 within the Laguna Pueblo Reservation.

According to court documents, a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer conducted a vehicle traffic stop June 11 on Jordan Baldwin, 22, for excessive window tint within the Laguna Reservation. The officer detected the scent of marijuana and saw drug paraphernalia in plain view. Baldwin admitted to possessing marijuana and was asked to exit the vehicle. Baldwin also admitted to using a straw found in her possession to snort cocaine.

The officer located additional drug paraphernalia and Xanax pills, a large black duffle bag containing 122 pounds of blue pills that were confirmed as fentanyl. Officials estimate the poundage equals approximately 504,140 pills.

Baldwin is charged with possession with intent to distribute and distribution of 400 grams or more of fentanyl and will remain on conditions of release pending trial, which has not yet been scheduled.

If convicted of the current charges, Baldwin faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years up to life in prison.
