RR Memorial Day ceremony on for May 26; city offices closed
RIO RANCHO — The city of Rio Rancho will recognize Memorial Day with a remembrance ceremony 10 a.m. May 26 at Veterans Memorial Park next to Esther Bone Library.
“The ceremony will include the laying of a wreath and presentation of Taps, and four displays representing the history of the battlefield crosses from the Civil War, World War I, World War II, through Korea and Vietnam wars, along with Desert Storm through the Iraq and Afghanistan wars,” the city posted on its website.
The website also stated that a set of military boots representing fallen service members from each branch will be displayed.
The memorial ceremony is organized by Rio Rancho’s own Marine Corps League — Detachment 1316, American Legion Post 118, VFW Post 5890, Women Veterans of New Mexico, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
