Rio Rancho woman charged with voting fraud in in Sandoval County
BERNALILLO —A Rio Rancho woman was charged Dec. 9 election fraud tied to an absentee ballot investigation from May 13, 2024.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the magistrate court Jan. 21, Pricilla Plummer, 67, of Rio Rancho, and another woman were suspected of false voting. However, only Plummer was charged.
It started with Sandoval County's Chief Deputy Clerk Joey Dominguez contacting the county sheriff's office after he received information from an out-of-state voter who said they had voted in person in Florida and were notified of a separate absentee ballot that had been filed using their information from New Mexico.
They told investigators their sibling contacted them, letting them know their aunt and their grandmother, Plummer, requested an absentee ballot in her name and voted on her behalf, prompting the voter to call the Bureau of Elections.
The other woman told a detective she said she didn't have any knowledge of allegations. Plummer said she sent the voter the absentee ballot in the mail. She couldn't say how the ballot came to be filled out and counted as a vote. T
False voting is a fourth-degree felony. If convicted, Plummer could face a year and a half in prison.
