Rio Rancho school board to discuss superintendent qualities, job description
RIO RANCHO — The Rio Rancho Public Schools Board of Education will meet Monday to consider what qualities they would like to see in the next superintendent and possibly approve an advertisement for the position.
The special meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the boardroom, 500 Laser Road NE, Rio Rancho, according to a meeting agenda.
The board’s discussion on future superintendent qualities will come one day after the closure of an online survey asking stakeholders which 10 out of 31 qualities they would like to see in the leader who will succeed Dr. Sue Cleveland — the district’s founding superintendent who will retire in the spring.
The board could approve Monday a flyer meant to “get the word out” that RRPS is hiring for the top role, according to RRPS Board President Amanda Galbraith.
On Oct. 15-16, the district and a search firm held town hall meetings, giving parents and community members the change to tell officials about the right attributes that should be in the next superintendent.
