RIO RANCHO — A man was arrested in Los Diamantes for shooting at a man and his dog.

Joseph Ingleton, 32, of Rio Rancho, was arrested Dec. 14 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, cruelty to animals, negligent use of a firearm, shooting at a motor vehicle and criminal damage to property.

Police were called for a road-rage-turned-shooting incident near 10th Street and 11th Avenue.

The officer on scene talked to Ingleton first. He had his arms raised and said he was unarmed. The officer detained him and searched him for weapons. He told the officer a man cut him off as he was pulling out of the Dollar Tree parking lot and said the driver followed him all the way to Rainbow Boulevard.

The car continued to follow him to Third Street. He lost sight of the car for a bit but then saw the car again at Fourth Street. Ingleton stopped his car to yell at the driver and admitted to pulling out a revolver to threaten him. The driver didn’t go away. Ingleton admitted to firing a shot at the car. At that point, the other vehicle left.

Ingleton also showed officers a video he recorded of the incident.

He could serve up to five years or more in prison if convicted.
