A former Rio Rancho man will spend 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography in April.

This is the second conviction on possession of child pornography for Richard Crisman, 39, of Albuquerque, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice. He pled guilty to receipt of a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct in February 2012 and received a sentence of 97 months in federal prison followed by 25 years of supervised release.

In his most recent case, a probation officer made a routine visit to Crisman’s Rio Rancho home on April 7, 2021, according to court documents. The officer noticed an unauthorized USB device on his computer, and a following search of that and other devices revealed thousands of images and videos of children under the age of 18 engaging in sex acts. He admitted to downloading the material.

When released, Crisman will be subject to a lifetime of supervised release.
