RIO RANCHO – It was a long trip, but it was all worth it for the Rams cheer squad, who returned home on Sunday after competing at the 2025 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida.

The RRHS squad took 5th-place in their division: “Small Varsity Coed I – Game Day”. They accumulated a massive 90.8 team points and almost edged out 2025 National Champion Legend High School out of Parker, Colorado, who got 94 points.

This is the second year in a row that the Rams have returned from Nationals with a Top-5 trophy. In 2024, RRHS finished in 2nd-place, with 91 points, and barely lost to that year’s National Champion Pearland High School, out of Pearland, Texas who grabbed 92.2.

“Amazing job Coach! You’re doing so amazing with our babies,” said cheer-mom Tabitha Dominguez to Coach Elisa Lopez, on the squad’s Instagram account. Her’s was just one of the outpourings of support for this Rams team.

The Rams (and the Storm) will take the next month to practice and prepare for the NMAA State Spirit Championship, taking place Mar. 21-22 at the Pit.
