Aurora Chavez, 26, of Albuquerque, was summoned Feb. 2 for false imprisonment, criminal damage to property, resisting arrest and four counts of battery upon a peace officer in the 1000 block of Reynosa Loop.
Officers responded to a 911 hang-up call reporting Chavez was barricading another woman in the bathroom of the house.
The caller told officers Chavez is her brother’s ex but they were still close. Chavez messaged the caller and asked if she could stay with her; however, when Chavez arrived at her place, she appeared to be intoxicated.
She said she was sleeping when Chavez woke her up and pulled her into a bathroom. She said Chavez was acting strangely and wouldn’t let her leave. She said Chavez called police, saying someone was trying to kill her. She was able to get out of the bathroom by shoving Chavez out of the way.
Chavez was still in the bathroom when police arrived. They were able to get her to exit, but she refused to tell them who she was and wouldn’t cooperate with them. They tried to detain her, but she resisted and fell to the ground, where she refused to roll over. In the process of resisting, she kicked an officer in the chest. She also took two officers’ radios.
When officers eventually spoke with her, she admitted to taking THC that was laced with another drug.
While officers were taking her out of the residence to the hospital, she scratched and bit another officer, the scratched another and kicked one of the other officers.
Chavez will serve about 8 1/2 years in prison if convicted.
