Police arrest woman at NAPA Auto for receiving stolen vehicle
Heather Lopez, about 34, of Albuquerque, was arrested Oct.24 at NAPA Auto Parts on NM 528 and Sara Road for receiving a stolen motor vehicle.
Detectives advised officers that they saw a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of NAPA Auto Parts. Officers performed a “high-risk” traffic stop on the woman, who said she bought the vehicle from a “Travis,” though she didn’t provide a phone number or other information. She said she bought the vehicle for $150 three days ago and that the vehicle had been donated to that person from a “church guy.”
Despite a destroyed ignition and having to start the vehicle with a vice grip, Lopez said she didn’t feel the vehicle was stolen; however, she was charged with receiving a stolen vehicle.
If convicted, Lopez could face up to five years in prison.
