The PNM Resources Resources Foundation announced Monday that the application process for the “Reduce Your Use” grants.

The grants are to help New Mexico nonprofits complete projects that reduce their energy use and lower their electric bills. Funded projects include efficient lighting, updating heating and cooling systems, energy-saving appliances, window coverings, ceiling fans, solar lighting and more. The completion of these projects will save energy and money, and will also mean a cleaner, healthier environment for their clients and staff.

“Nonprofits often face difficult decisions of making their facilities more energy efficient due to financial constraints,” said Laurie Roach, PNM Resources Foundation executive director. “New Mexico nonprofits that receive the Reduce Your Use grant will be able to pay for projects that reduce their energy usage, which in turn lowers their electric bills and will reduce carbon emissions, maximizing their mission to serve the community.”

Nonprofits can apply for this grant online. The application will remain open until all funds are assigned. Each selected nonprofit is expected to receive up to a $5,000 grant.

As part of the PNM Resources Foundation, nonprofits statewide have collected more than $2.8 million through the PNM Reduce Your Use grant since the program began in 2008.
