PNM offering cooling rebates to customers

PNM is offering customers a chance to stay cool and save some money this summer.

Residential customers can save up to $300 when they purchase a new, qualifying, energy-efficient evaporative cooling unit. PNM is also offering rebates of $150 on qualifying window-mounted evaporative units.

Evaporative cooling, sometimes referred to as “swamp cooling,” is used to lower air temperature by using the process of evaporation. Warm, dry air is changed to cool, moist air and the heat of the outside air is used to evaporate water, causing a cooling effect.

“PNM is very proud to offer rebates on cooling units,” Sharon James, manager of PNM’s Energy Efficiency department, said. “We realize the importance customers place on staying cool while saving money and energy and we believe these rebates can help them reach those goals.”
