Placitas Community Library will share the history of its origins in a presentation at 2 p.m. April 7.

“Learn about the origins of a very special library that helped lead the way to our current beloved library. In the late-1950s, Frances Escarcida and Adela Garcia had a vision that began with providing books in the local school hallway. By March 1966, the library was incorporated with a board of trustees. By the early 1980s, the library became fully integrated into Placitas Elementary School and began to function as a school library. One of the library founders, Frances Escarcida, continued on as the school librarian for years to come,” reads a release.

The program will include a presentation to share this history and honor the people that helped bring a library to Placitas in 1958. Escarcida will be at the presentation.

Refreshments will be served following the program.
