Placitas Library to celebrate 20 years in September

The Placitas Community Library will have its 20th Birthday Party on Sept. 17 from 1-3 pm.
The library has invited citizens to join them for some light refreshments to celebrate the occasion.
Lynn Hynes, the new library director at the library, will be there for a meet and greet.
With federal, state and private grants and fundraising by Placitas volunteers, the library was built and opened in May 2009. A full-time library director and a part-time custodian are the library’s only paid employees.
Ninety volunteers keep the library open and functioning. The library is now a hub of community activity, providing educational, social and cultural activities for residents.
