The Placitas Adult Community Education (PACE), a local nonprofit membership organization, will share its upcoming classes at Placitas Community Library at 2 p.m. Aug. 24.

The new chair of PACE, Jud Fink, will share the upcoming classes offered this fall. According to the release, PACE classes are led by speakers who enjoy an informal “give-and-take” atmosphere. Classes are taught on a volunteer basis.

Some of the courses offered by PACE over the years were on science, water rights and where our water comes from, literature, jazz and classical music, life planning in senior years, and many other topics. One of most popular courses, according to the release, has been wine tasting.

Classes that people can take coming up this year are in Native American art, history and culture of the New Mexico pueblos, classical music, jazz, literature, “Heaven and Earth” (comparing the geology of Earth and other bodies in the solar system), wine tasting, and gardening in Placitas. A complete schedule will be available in August.

Each course meets for two hours once a week for three to eight weeks. The program tries to host about four to six classes each semester.
