A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a driver on Albuquerque's West Side early Thursday.

At about midnight, the Albuquerque Police Department was dispatched to a call of a crash at Coors and Irving NW.

APD spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said the driver of a black Mercedes was heading north on Coors at Irving when they hit a pedestrian trying to cross Coors. The person walking — who was not identified by police — died at the scene.

"This is an ongoing investigation," he said.
